The short version

  • We do not sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
  • We never ask you for a copy of your government-issued ID, for any reason.
  • If you subscribe to the document-preparation service, canceling is exactly as easy as signing up.
  • You can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — the same rights this whole series teaches you to use everywhere else.

This Privacy Policy explains what information TakingItBackBooks.com and its related subscription service collect, how that information is used, and the choices and rights available to you. We wrote it the same way we write everything else in the Taking It Back series: in plain English, saying exactly what we mean.

1. Who this policy covers

TakingItBackBooks.com (the "Site") is operated by JWB Publishing LLC, an Indiana limited liability company. The optional subscription document-preparation service described on this Site is operated by JWB Data Rights LLC, a separate Indiana limited liability company. Each company is responsible only for the part of the business it operates. Neither company provides investment, financial, or legal advice, and nothing on this Site should be read as such.

In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to whichever of the two companies is relevant to the activity being described. Section 9 below deals specifically with the subscription service and JWB Data Rights LLC.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us directly

Information collected automatically

What we never collect

We do not collect, request, or store a copy of your government-issued identification, under any circumstance — on this Site or through the subscription service. If a company you're contacting through one of our forms requires ID as part of its own verification process, you provide that directly to that company, through its own channel. We never see it, and it never passes through us.

3. How we use information

We do not use your information to send unsolicited marketing from third parties, and we do not build advertising profiles.

4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information to data brokers, advertisers, or any other third party — this is a core promise of the business, not a compliance formality. We share information only with:

5. Payment processing

Subscription payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. Your full card details are transmitted directly to that processor and are never stored on our own servers.

6. Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary to operate the Site, plus limited, aggregate analytics to understand traffic. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect some Site functionality but will not block you from reading any book content or policy.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, state law may give you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale (which, as noted above, we don't do regardless). We extend these same rights to every visitor, regardless of which state's law technically applies to you — it would be a strange business for us to run any other way.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 13. We will not charge you a fee or retaliate against you for making a request.

8. Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected — to respond to your inquiry, to provide an active subscription, or to meet a legal recordkeeping requirement. Subscribers can request deletion of their account information at any time after cancellation, subject to what we're legally required to retain.

9. The subscription service — JWB Data Rights LLC

JWB Data Rights LLC prepares and transmits statutory consumer data-privacy rights-request forms on behalf of subscribers, tracks statutory response deadlines, and re-files requests annually. All documents distributed by the service are personally curated and reviewed; software, including AI-assisted tools, is used only to populate and prepare documents on templates that have already been authored and maintained by a human — not to make decisions or give advice.

The service does not collect government-issued identification under any circumstance. Where a company you're contacting requires ID as part of its own verification process, you provide it directly to that company. Cancellation is available at any time and requires no more effort than signing up did.

10. Children's privacy

This Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but this Site's entire premise is taking data protection seriously, and we hold ourselves to that standard internally as well as in what we publish.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change on the Site. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
